We supply Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs for shoots, stills and appearances — with our own handling on set and animals from our own FCI/ÖKV kennel. No CGI, no prop, no rented animal.
What you book: trained Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs from our kennel “vom alten Wolfsblut”, accompanied by their own handlers. The animals are not rented out — we come with them.
Where: We are based in Ligist, Styria, we work across Europe, and since 2022 we travel 100 % electrically.
What for: Feature film, series, documentary, commercial, music video, editorial and campaign photography, events, workshops as well as press and information dates.
Lead time: several weeks for shooting days, and for large productions ideally from the moment the storyboard is locked.
What we decline: scenes that are not defensible for the animals. We say so before we accept, not on the shooting day.

What looks like a wolf on screen is, with us, a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog — a recognised breed from the German Shepherd and the Carpathian wolf, bred and trained in our kennel vom alten Wolfsblut. The animals live with us, know us, and only go on a set with us.
That is exactly why we can say in advance what a scene needs — and what it would cost the animals. This is not a matter of attitude, it is arithmetic: an animal that stays calm because it can see its person does not need twenty takes.
Anyone who has ever lost a shooting day because an animal would not play along knows what that difference is worth.

Planning
Travel, rest areas, handling and, where needed, usage rights for picture and sound.

On set
We arrive with the animals and our own retreat area — and stay until the take is right.

Afterwards
You get what was agreed. Reshoots and buyout are already in the contract.

Who stands on set
Someone who does not hand over.
Daniel Angerer runs Lunar Lupus e.U. from Ligist in Styria. He is president of the Wolfhundeclub Österreich and breed representative for the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog in Austria. The kennel vom alten Wolfsblut works under FCI and ÖKV rules.
Working with dogs runs in the family — from search and rescue work through the Österreichring in 1984 to the film set. Since 2022 we have been travelling 100 % electric : to shoots, to shows, to training.
Between mid and late 2027 we are also building Lunar Lupus into a training centre. Whoever books today books the pack — the school follows once it is ready.

Are your film wolves real wolves?
No. They are Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs — a dog breed recognised by the FCI, bred from the German Shepherd and the Carpathian wolf. Our animals come from our own kennel “vom alten Wolfsblut” and hold FCI/ÖKV papers.
How do you book wolfdogs for a film production?
You send the scene, the location, the date and what the animal is meant to do. Within a few days we say what of it is workable and what is not, and then quote on that briefing. There is no flat rate card, because duration, number of animals, travel and usage rights determine the effort.
Do you work across Europe?
Yes. We are based in Ligist, Styria, and we accompany shoots, stills and events across Europe. Since 2022 we travel 100 percent electrically.
Who handles the animals on set?
We do, and only we. The animals belong to our pack and are not rented out — we never hand over handling. We bring our own retreat area and insist that it is respected.
How far in advance should you enquire?
Several weeks for shooting and photo dates. For large productions, ideally as soon as the storyboard is locked — at that point what the animal does in the scene can still be shaped.
Have you worked on productions for Netflix, HBO or Amazon?
We have worked for studios whose series and films ran on Netflix, HBO and Amazon. Which titles those are we clarify in conversation — production contracts are rarely public. What we can document and name freely are the contexts National Geographic, ARTE and ORF Universum as well as several music video productions.
What does a shooting day with your animals cost?
That depends on the scene, the duration, the number of animals, travel and the usage rights. You receive a quote on your briefing. We deliberately do not keep a flat rate card.
